A Polish World War II refugee assumes the identity of a friend who died along side her in a German prison camp just prior to American liberation. Her intent was to gain entry into the U.S. and association with the dead woman's aunt, an ultra rich icon of San Francisco's Telegraph Hill. To that end she was wildly successful even acting as mother to the friend's little boy. But all is not as it seems on Telegraph Hill. Perhaps hers is not the only pretense in this cast of characters?
